Poron ® is a breathable open cell Performance Urethane with excellent shock absorption qualities. It is an engineered open cell foam, so the cells return to their designed shape without popping, and allow water to pass or evaporate.

Another very important characteristic in a foam used for a horse product is the ability to rebound to the original shape at the speed of the motion of the horse. If a foam squishes due to a pressure and does not return to the original shape before the next moment of pressure, it will squish further until finally all of the impact is translated directly to the horse. Poron ® can respond as fast than the motion of the horse.

Poron ® retains these qualities even at operating temperatures of the back of the horse on a hot day. You do not have to tighten your girth after the foam is warmed up.

If you would like to replace the foam product in your current pocketed pad, you can either send a tracing or rough dimensions and you can cut the foam yourself. It is not easy to cut the 1/2" foam smoothly, so a tracing is recommended. Poron® is available in 1/2" or 1/4".
